Google Sitemap is an ideal way to tell Google about the web pages on your website. This tactic directly helps Google discover the pages, which otherwise may not be discovered and indexed by Google. All three major search engines, Google, Yahoo and MSN/Bing, look for the sitemap.xml on all websites.
Google Sitemap is helpful, especially if:
- Your website has dynamic content
- Your website has certain pages not indexed or discovered by Googlebot during the normal crawl process –e.g., web pages that contain images or heavy and rich AJAX.
- The website has a large archive of content pages that are not linked properly with each other, or are not even linked at all.
- If your website is not properly linked with each page (Googlebot crawls the web by following such links).
