GENERAL MISCONDUCT Disruptive Behavior - Minor 0-12 Behavior

Disrupting instruction and the learning of other students in the classroom.

Disruption does not include occasionally engaging with instruction in a manner that is not aligned with classroom expectation (i.e. occasionally blurting something out or having a side conversation with another student)

Examples:
  • Using a cellphone in class for calling, texting, playing games, browsing the internet, using apps or listening to music without your teacher’s permission
  • Speaking out of turn, make inappropriate or humorous comments at inappropriate times
  • Trying to engage others while they are working
  • Dropping things, laughing, or making noises on purpose
  • Bothering other students
  • Being out of seat/walking around class
  • Over socializing
  • Knocking on doors/windows of classrooms
1 Disruptive Behavior - Minor
GENERAL MISCONDUCT Disruptive Behavior - Major 0-12 Behavior Preventing instruction for a significant time, acting violently, or threatening or intimidating another person in a way that significantly disrupts class, school, or a school sponsored activity. Examples:
  • Throwing objects such as furniture, laptops, books, etc.
  • Making extreme outbursts
  • Throwing items out of windows
2 Disruptive Behavior - Minor
GENERAL MISCONDUCT Uncooperative Behavior 0-12 Behavior Refusing to follow directions or truthfully respond to questions or requests of teachers, staff, or administrators Example:
  • Refusing to give name or information
  • Giving false name or information
  • Possessing hall pass without authorization
  • Refusing to follow class instructions and/or do assigned work
  • Refusing to remove/put away items or materials as requested by teacher, staff, or administrator
  • Refusing to sit in assigned seat
3 Uncooperative Behavior
GENERAL MISCONDUCT Profanity 0-12 Behavior Using profanity or offensive language or making inappropriate or offensive gestures, verbal or written comments, or symbols

For students in grades Kindergarten through second, the teacher should first attempt Level 1 Responses before seeking administrative support.

However, for students in third grade and above, the teacher should seek administrative support for this behavior. The administrator should first respond with in-school consequences Consequences and Interventions before considering progressing to out-of-school consequences.

4 Profanity

GENERAL MISCONDUCT Profanity - To school staff or other adult 0-2 Behavior Threat Using profanity or offensive language or making inappropriate or offensive gestures, verbal or written comments, or symbols directed at school personnel. Where feasible, teachers are encouraged to handle this behavior in the classroom and to document it as a Level 1. However, if necessary, teachers can seek Administrator support for the first occurrence. 6 Profanity - To school staff or other adult

GENERAL MISCONDUCT Bus Rules Violation 0-12 Behavior Failing to follow bus rules or the instructions of the bus driver.   • Breaking a window to gain entry
